Heather & Brad’s Colorado Wedding Reception After Eloping in Canada
Heather and Brad originally eloped in Canada but wanted to come back to Colorado to celebrate with the people who mean the most to them — and what a celebration it was. Hosting a reception after an elopement is such a great way to have the best of both worlds: a private, intimate ceremony and a joyful gathering with family and friends.
They planned an elegant cocktail hour that included heartfelt speeches and a beautiful first dance. Afterward, I captured some sweet portraits of them outside their venue and inside the groom’s suite — highlighting their subtle, vintage style and the charm woven into every detail.
Heather is a talented local wedding planner, so working with her was an absolute dream. On this day, her assistant stepped in to take over most of the planning and coordination, allowing Heather to truly be present. One of my favorite moments was watching her and Brad walk into the reception space for the first time — her face absolutely lit up. Seeing her vision come together, thanks to her assistant and florist, was something truly special. She spends her days creating magic for other couples, and this time it was her turn.
The entire evening was filled with beautiful personal touches — from her grandmother’s pearls to tiny charms on her bouquet honoring loved ones who had passed. Every detail felt intentional, heartfelt, and uniquely theirs.
This reception was a perfect reminder that your wedding day is yours to design — whether you choose to elope, host a party later, or anything in between. There are no rules. Just love.
