Emma & Erik’s Snowy Loveland Pass Wedding | A Colorado Mountain Elopement

Loveland Pass Mountain Elopement in Colorado

Emma and Erik dreamed of marrying each other at the top of Loveland Pass, surrounded by their closest family and friends. They picked a day in late May — hoping for blue skies and springtime ease. But, in true Colorado fashion, the weather had other plans. On the day of their wedding, a winter storm rolled in with a forecast calling for 34 inches of snow!

I’m pretty sure their Alaskan malamute, Brody, had this planned all along.

With the storm incoming, I packed up my family and headed out to Leadville the night before to stay close — and I’m so glad I did. Emma and Erik had rented a beautiful home in Dillon, Colorado, where they, their families, and friends could all get ready together. The layout was perfect — everyone had space, and the snowy views turned it into a total winter wonderland.

After their first look at the Airbnb, we piled into the car and made our way toward Loveland Pass. The original plan was to reach the summit, but with the storm in full swing, we had to pivot. We found a lower parking lot with just enough shelter and space — and it became the perfect place for them to say their vows. Honestly, it felt meant to be.

One thing I always tell couples planning a mountain elopement: be ready to roll with it. Weather can change everything, and Emma and Erik handled the curveball with so much grace and joy. Their day turned out absolutely magical — snow and all.

Afterward, we returned to the Airbnb where a private chef was preparing dinner. They cut their cake, toasted with loved ones, and even had a special moment where Brody — yes, the dog — signed their marriage license. Proud pup moment if I’ve ever seen one.

It wasn’t the sunny spring wedding they’d envisioned — but it was intimate, emotional, and uniquely them. That’s the beauty of a Colorado wedding: even when the plan changes, the magic still shows up.
