A Slow, Sweet Evening on the Land | Karly & Nick’s Family Session

I’ve been lucky enough to capture Karly and Nick’s beautiful family for years, and each session with them feels more special than the last. This one was incredibly meaningful — we photographed it on Nick’s father’s land in Western New York, a place full of roots, memories, and future dreams.

Nick recently purchased a piece of the land with plans to build their dream home there someday. We started the session deep in the woods before heading to an open grassy hill — the very spot where that future home will stand. As we explored the property on their Gator, you could feel how much love and connection this family shares.

This is a blended family full of joy, laughter, and tenderness. I captured moments of Karly nursing her youngest daughter, her older daughter tying her shoes, and those little in-between looks that say everything about motherhood and growing up. I always make it a point to get photos of just mom and dad, too — that connection deserves to be celebrated.

To close out the session, Karly and the girls played in the mud puddles. Their faces lit up with huge smiles, splashing and laughing without a care in the world. These are the moments that matter — the unscripted ones, the perfectly imperfect ones. Sometimes you just need to slow life down and soak it all in.
