Letting Kids Be Kids | A Joyful Family Session in the Woods
This session with Melissa and her family was extra special—it was my second time photographing them, and I loved seeing how much the kids had grown and how their unique personalities truly shined.
We spent the evening playing tag, running through the tall grasses, and laughing as they chased each other through the woods. There’s something magical about watching kids be themselves in nature—completely free, curious, and full of joy. They even brought pieces of their world to the session. Jasmine had her favorite stuffed animal in hand, and her brother wore his cape proudly as he zoomed through the forest like a little superhero.
One of my favorite moments was their impromptu game of baseball—with sticks and pinecones, of course. These little touches always bring so much personality to a session, and I love when families feel comfortable enough to just have fun and be themselves in front of my lens.
Sitting on a blanket together and capturing those quiet cuddles in between the wild fun, I couldn’t help but smile. Sessions like these remind me how lucky I am to freeze these moments in time for families—especially ones I get to see grow and reconnect with year after year.
“Our pictures turned out wonderful! Sarah has such a good eye! My family is very comfortable with her. I couldn’t be happier!”
