Watching Them Grow | Carla’s Extended Family Session in Buffalo, NY
Carla’s extended family session in Buffalo, NY was filled with so many sweet, full-circle moments. We met at a tall grassy park — one of those quiet places that feels like it holds stories in the breeze. After capturing the entire family together, we took time to focus on her older granddaughters and their boyfriends.
I’ve been photographing these girls for a few years now, and to see them growing up — now in high school and college, bringing their boyfriends along for the session — was such a surreal and special moment. It’s wild how fast time moves, and it made me so grateful to be trusted year after year to document these milestones.
There’s something truly special about extended family sessions. They’re full of laughter, connection, and so many generations woven together. Carla’s family radiated love, and this session felt more like catching up with old friends than work.
Moments like these are a reminder of how meaningful photography can be. It’s not just about capturing how people look — it’s about freezing a season of life that will never happen quite the same way again.
“Love Vintage Violets Photography. I wouldn’t use any other photographer for my grandchildren. Sarah takes her time and has the patience of a saint with my littlest one. Her backdrops are one-of-a-kind and make for unique gifts for all our family members. I get constant compliments and always have folks asking “who took those photos; they are fabulous.” If you’re looking for a fantastic photographer, Vintage Violets is the place to go!”
