Ally & Aaron’s Beach Engagement Session at Beaver Island
Ally’s mom works with my mom, so when Ally and Aaron got engaged, she reached out right away to book a session while I was back in town. They knew they wanted a beach setting — and since Ally grew up visiting Beaver Island with her mom, it was the perfect place for their session.
We started the evening walking along the boardwalk, soaking in the views and easing into the shoot. From there, we made our way down to the shoreline, where Ally and Aaron ran barefoot through the sand, cuddled up on a blanket, and splashed around in the tide while I tagged along with my camera, capturing all the real, in-between moments.
We ended the session with something special: a Japanese lantern sendoff, with their wedding date written on the side. The wind had a few tricks up its sleeve, but we still captured some beautiful shots of the glowing lantern and that soft, romantic light.
I always encourage my couples to think of something meaningful or fun to include in their session — whether it’s a unique tradition, a symbolic gesture, or something that just feels you. And if you’re not sure what that might be, don’t worry… I’ve got plenty of ideas up my sleeve.
